Starr Custom Homes recently completed two remodeling projects resulting in two happy clients.

The first project, pictured above, was a kitchen and bath remodel for Mark and Walda Starkey.  We took a 20+ year old kitchen and turned it into a 21st century showplace. Dingy, peeling Thermofoil cabinets and aging appliances were replaced with painted and glazed wood cabinets, a custom California island and built-in Thermador appliances, quartz countertops, cross-cut travertine flooring, a marble subway tile backsplash and more.   The bathroom was also completely updated with custom tiles, a large walk in shower, and a rustic furniture style vanity with soapstone countertop.  We’d like to thank our interior designer, Josie Myers, for collaborating on this project.

The second project was for a repeat client, Brian McElyea.  We took an open, upstairs loft and enclosed it for use as a home office.  New paint, flooring and crown moulding finished off the new space.  Plus, we installed a great built-in desk with shelving and plenty of storage from California Closets.  Now, Brian can work from home with quiet, privacy and functionality.

Dreambuilder Nine featured in Florida Homebuyer’s “Don’t Break the Bank”

Monday, May 28th, 2012

Dreambuilder Nine, a master bath remodel we did last year for the Hughes family, was featured in this month’s issue of Florida Homebuyer / Remodel Jacksonville.  The magazine featured an article on remodeling projects that cost under $15,000.

Dreambuilder Nine took a drab, low-grade bathroom and transformed it into a contemporary spa retreat.  It was recognized with a First Coast Remodeler’s Award last year.

You can check out the digital version of the magazine here, and go to page 41.  You can also see our ad on page 19.

Award-winning Dreambuilder Nine

Dreambuilder Custom Homes is pleased to announce that it won three prizes at the 2011 First Coast Remodelers Awards.  The awards dinner was held earlier this month at Deerwood Country Club.

The First Coast Remodelers Awards are sponsored by the Remodelers Council of the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA), of which Dreambuilder is a member.  This is the first year that Dreambuilder entered the competition.  To participate, a dossier containing plans, specifications and pictures of the ‘before’ and ‘after’ for the project had to be submitted.  Additionally, on-site judging took place at each project, with judges from builders’ associations in Tampa and Orlando.  For each awards category, a winner and a runner-up was selected.

Dreambuilder entered three projects, all of which placed in the competition.  Dreambuilder Nine, our contemporary master bath remodel, won its category.  We also entered two kitchen remodels in two different categories:  Dreambuilder Twelve, our modern kitchen makeover, and Dreambuilder Thirteen, our Intracoastal kitchen renovation — both of which were selected as the runner-up in their respective categories. Dreambuilder announces completion of Dreambuilder Fourteen: a master shower remodel

Friday, August 12th, 2011

Dreambuilder Custom Homes is pleased to announce the completion of Dreambuilder Fourteen:  a master shower remodel for the McElyea family in Orange Park, FL.

This Eagle Harbour family had a large but dated master shower that needed style – but more importantly, they needed a place to easily care for their special-needs child.  The current shower, with a raised curb and 2’ wide door, prevented wheelchair access.  As a result, the McElyeas bathed their daughter in the bathtub, which was becoming more difficult as she grew.
