Dreambuilder Custom Homes is very proud to announce its sponsorship of the Southern Oak Insurance Company Tailgate: Kick-off to a Cure, benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Dreambuilder is a Game Day Sponsor of the September 19th event.
Supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is important to the Dreambuilder family: president Shawn Starr’s 10-year-old niece, Courtney, suffers from the disease, along with about 30,000 others in the United States, most of whom are children.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that causes the body to produce thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections, the most dangerous of several symptoms. Due to the support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, advances in treatment have increased the life expectancy from early childhood in the 1950s to the mid-30s today. More research is needed, however, to reach the ultimate goal: a cure.
The Southern Oak Insurance Company Tailgate: Kick-off to a Cure has been an annual event in Jacksonville for several years now, raising tens of thousands of dollars for the Foundation. Over 400 patrons attend the event, held at the stadium and catered by over two-dozen of Jacksonville’s finest restaurants.
“The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation welcomes Dreambuilder Custom Homes as a Game Day sponsor to the Southern Oak Insurance Company Tailgate: Kick-off to a Cure,” says Claudia Werner, executive director of the North Florida Office of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. “Shawn Starr has been attending the event for years, and this year joined our planning committee. We are honored that he has chosen to support our mission with sponsorship, now that he has a company of his own.”
