Starr Custom Homes recently completed two remodeling projects resulting in two happy clients.

The first project, pictured above, was a kitchen and bath remodel for Mark and Walda Starkey.  We took a 20+ year old kitchen and turned it into a 21st century showplace. Dingy, peeling Thermofoil cabinets and aging appliances were replaced with painted and glazed wood cabinets, a custom California island and built-in Thermador appliances, quartz countertops, cross-cut travertine flooring, a marble subway tile backsplash and more.   The bathroom was also completely updated with custom tiles, a large walk in shower, and a rustic furniture style vanity with soapstone countertop.  We’d like to thank our interior designer, Josie Myers, for collaborating on this project.

The second project was for a repeat client, Brian McElyea.  We took an open, upstairs loft and enclosed it for use as a home office.  New paint, flooring and crown moulding finished off the new space.  Plus, we installed a great built-in desk with shelving and plenty of storage from California Closets.  Now, Brian can work from home with quiet, privacy and functionality.

You can read testimonials from both of these satisfied clients here, and check out the DreamDesign 32 album on our Facebook page for before and after pictures of that project.

Dreambuilder 23, a 1980s kitchen renovation, is complete!

Saturday, February 22nd, 2014

Kara Anderson loved her home — but hated her kitchen!

Built in the 1980s, the kitchen was large and in good condition — but was closed off from the rest of house and showing its age stylistically.  Kara called Dreambuilder in to help her transform her outdated kitchen into a contemporary showplace — and Dreambuilder 23 was born.

“The transformation of our outdated 80′s kitchen to an amazing center piece to our home is amazing,” said Kara after working with Shawn Starr, Dreambuilder’s president.  “His vision and ideas along with our own created the diner feel while keeping us on budget.”

The primary requirement for the project was the removal of the wall between the kitchen and great room, opening up the space.  A new counter-height bar was added for additional seating.  And now, with wide-open views between rooms, cooking and entertaining can easily take place. (more…)

Dreambuilder joins Remodelers Council

Monday, January 30th, 2012

On the heals of its first remodeling awards, Dreambuilder Custom Homes has joined the Remodelers Council.  The Council sponsors the First Coast Remodelers Awards, at which Dreambuilder won three prizes.

“Remodeling or renovating an existing home has many things in common with new construction,” said Shawn Starr, Dreambuilder’s president.  “Yet, there are unique challenges in a renovation that one doesn’t encounter in new construction.  The Remodelers Council provides opportunities for education and support that directly impacts the remodeling project.  And, as only reputable companies are permitted to join, adds another credential for Dreambuilder.”

You can find out more about the Remodelers Council on its website.
